What You Need to Know Before Investing
1. Get Licensed (Required)
- Getting a racing license is a requirement in New York State. Anyone who owns any portion of a race horse is required to obtain a license. You can obtain your license at any race track in New York. You can find the application here.
- The cost of a brand new license is $100 but annual renewal is $50.
- Fingerprints are also required for a NYS license. The one time fee is $88 for processing.
- While it’s ultimately the responsibility of our clients to get their licensing in order, we will do our best to assist and advise you.
2. Join Associations
- United States Trotting Association: $40 annually.View Membership Application.
- Western New York Harness Horsemen’s Association: $30 annually. View application.
